A week ago we had "sAfEtY WeEk" at Manila Elementary School. Our incredible PTA has been working on a grant with U-DOT for over a year. With this grant came some much needed sidewalks leading to our school, flashing school zone signs, crosswalks, & much more!
This is a shot of my cute class. On Tuesday EVERY student got a new bike helmet. I had to get a picture with their new helmets. They also got wristbands, water bottles, & pedometers!
We had a celebrity crossing guard each day! On Tuesday Cosmo from BYU came, Wednesday Chief from the Utah Blaze came, Thursday Willy the Wolverine from UVU came & Friday some BMX bikers come! They all were dying to get their autographs!

The highlight of the week came on Friday. Each student had to read & agree to some safety guidelines to follow. When they did that, their name went into a drawing to win a new bike. The PTA gave one girl & one boy from EVERY class a new bike!!! Then they gave away 12 more! We gave away 72 bikes!!!
Here is a video of the BMX bikers. They jumped over our principal Dr. Sorensen! They did a great job. It was a fun week, the kids had a great time!
